Submissions open through July 31

We are so excited to announce our call for submissions for Flare Journal, Autumn 2026. This time around, we encourage artists to think about our theme, Connection X Isolation. Consider the following questions: How do we connect with one another during times of ecological crisis? How do we connect with the non-human inhabitants of this earth? How does the climate crisis rupture connection, how does it create isolation? How are we isolated from the crisis itself?

As always, we encourage submissions that explore deeply personal climate narratives or previously-undocumented consequences of the climate crisis. We also advise artists to scrutinize the potential ecological harm imposed by photographic methods, both historically and today.

Submission Guidelines

  • We are seeking any form of photographic work that engages with the climate crisis.

  • You can submit individual images or a series (up to 10 images).

  • We encourage you to submit an artist statement but we may opt to exclude text from the final publication.
