About Flare

Flare is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 39-4907138) led by photographers Amelia DiGiano, Alec Thompson, and Talon Belski. The concept was borne from a collective anxiety regarding the ecological health of the planet, a shared love for InDesign, and the belief in photography as a form of climate activism, education and resilience. 

The first edition of Flare was released April 17 2026, in-print (limited editions) and online. It is currently available for purchase here. We will be launching our next fall for submissions in July... stay tuned!

At this time, the journal is entirely self-funded. This is why we are asking for a $5-10 donation for each submission. We understand that submission fees are often a barrier for emerging photographers and we encourage anyone to submit, even those unable to make a donation. All submissions will be considered regardless of associated contributions.
